N3C Award 2021
The N3C organizing committee is pleased to call for nominations for the second N3C award that will be given to an outstanding early career researcher (Principle Investigator) working on topics related to the multidisciplinary field of catalysis in the Netherlands.
The purpose of the N3C award is to recognize outstanding work in catalysis and chemistry carried out by an early career PI made in the past 4 years (January 15, 2019 to January 15, 2023). The N3C award is intended to give the next generation of talented catalysis researchers working in the Netherlands an extra encouragement and bring them in the spotlight of catalysis communities in the Netherlands and abroad. The first N3C award will be presented during the online the conference that will take place March 6-8, 2023. The award will consist of a certificate, artwork and an N3C award lecture given in plenary format at the N3C conference in 2023.
A nominee for the active researcher working at a research institution in the Netherlands or Flanders,
- to be active in a research field relevant to the N3C conference (homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis, catalytic chemical conversions, catalysis engineering, computational and theoretical catalysis, coordination chemistry, biocatalysis),
- received a PhD degree not more than 10 years prior to the nomination deadline (compensation for (child)care will be considered upon request; the rules adopted by the ERC grant scheme for extension of the eligibility will be used),
- performed outstanding and independent chemical research work in the past 4 years. Special weight will be given to independence of thought and originality.
Guidelines for nominations
- Nomination should be accompanied by a recommendation letter (1-2 pages). The letter should describe the nominee's work and how it is aligned with the purpose, eligibility, and/or criteria of the award, the impact on the discipline, the significance (scientific or otherwise) of this effort, and the benefits to the catalysis society.
- The nomination should include a Curriculum Vitae with full publication lis.
- The nominations should be additionally endorsed by at least one established scientist not directly-related with the nominee or the nominating researcher. The endorsement letter(s) should clearly describe the impact of the work on the discipline, the significance of the research findings, and the way the Award’s purpose and criteria have been met.
- Deadline for nominations is January 15, 2023.
Nominations (the complete package) should be emailed to office@n3c.nl. The selection committee of the N3C award will consist of N3C board members as well as selected industrial and academic experts (to be decided upon, depending on the nominations).
